Membership Info
Membership is open to all duly qualified surgeons who are recognised as and practice as Specialist General Surgeons. No restrictions shall be imposed on any person by virtue of religious or political beliefs, gender, nationality, race or age, but the Society shall have the right to refuse membership to any person without assigning any reason thereof.
Membership of the Society will be by application. If you would like to join the Association, please fill out the Membership Application. The membership year runs from 1 December to the 30 November. Full membership fee is $390.00 plus GST ($438.75NZ). Fees are reviewed annually in March at the AGM.

- Category 1 will automatically apply to active Fellows under 65 unless another subscription category is applicable. Full membership fee is $421.88 inclusive of GST.
- Active Fellows are those in independent specialist surgical practice which includes operative, specialist consulting, medico-legal practice and other specialist non-procedural and non-clinical work such as surgical administration and academia.
- Category 2 or 3 will automatically apply to Fellows who turn 65 or 70 before the end of the subscription period. For all other categories the category conditions must exist for more than six months of the subscription period.
- Fully retired Fellows are those who have ceased practicing all forms of medicine, surgery, medico-legal work and other specialist non-procedural and non-clinical work such as surgical administration and academia.
- The overseas category includes Fellows permanently residing outside New Zealand. Fellows temporarily residing outside New Zealand qualify after more than five years absence.
- The Executive Director may set individual special subscriptions to accommodate unusual circumstances including financial hardship.
- The categories will be cumulative down to 25 per cent eg. a FRANZCO Fellow 65 and over or permanently overseas.
