Royal Australasian College of Surgeons 2019 Annual Scientific Congress
Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre, Bangkok Thailand, 6 – 10 May 2019
As you are aware, the RACS 2019 ASC will be held at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. The Convocation Ceremony will be held at 5:00pm on Monday 6 May and the scientific programs will run from Tuesday 7 May – Friday 10 May 2019.
A wide range of scientific topics will be covered at this ASC with sessions on Amputation (Orthopaedic Surgery), Gender Affirming Surgeries (plastic & Reconstructive Surgery), Encephaloceles (Craniomaxillofacial Surgery) and Biliary Challenges (HPB Surgery) just to name a few. For 2019, the Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, which replaced the original Head & Neck section, will participate in the ASC. Three international visitors have been confirmed to participate and speciality subjects including otology, rhinology, paediatric otolaryngology and head and neck surgery will feature in the scientific program.
In addition to specialty programs, there are also sessions of interest that are relevant to Fellows of RACS. The Pain Medicine section has organised combined sessions with orthopaedic surgery to investigate acute and chronic back pain. The Women in Surgery section is in charge of ‘Super Thursday’ to explore topics relevant to all specialties and craft groups, such as social media, unconscious bias and future challenges in surgery. Medico-Legal program will explore support mechanisms for surgeons faced with medico-legal issues. The Surgical Education section will host a session to discuss training in cultural competence and many more.
