Richard Brady is a specialist in IBD and colorectal surgery at Newcastle Hospitals, UK and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University and lead for Newcastle Centre for Bowel Disease Research Group.
Richard has a specialist interest in minimally invasive IBD surgery and patient outcomes. He has been at the cutting edge of surgical social media throughout its evolution, bringing the technology into effective use at the British Journal of Surgery, European Society of Coloproctology and the NIHR clinical research network in the North East of England. He is the founder of a number of social media movements, and has driven advances including specialist hashtags, tweetchats, online interviews and visual/ GIF and plain English abstracts.
Richard is the chief investigator for a number of large national and commercial NIHR Portfolio trials and has an academic track record in evaluating digital health solutions to improve the treatment of colorectal disease, modernising care pathways and improving new routes for monitoring or diagnosis.
Richard is a member of council of the RSM coloproctology section and is an executive member and chair of the communications committee for the ESCP.
