Mr Rowan Collinson MBChB FRACS, is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at Auckland City Hospital, and in private practice. His post-Fellowship training was in Colorectal surgery in Sydney, Australia and Oxford, UK. His clinical practice includes colonoscopy, colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, and he has a particular interest in colorectal disorders of the pelvic floor, including pelvic organ prolapse.  Rowan is the President of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ), having served on Council for the last six years, and is a member of the Bowel Screening governance group at ADHB. He is the programme Convenor of the Auckland Tripartite colorectal meeting, to take place in February 2022. Rowan is also a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI).

Fulminant Colitis

The surgical management of Fulminant Colitis requires a high level of clinical acumen and decisiveness. Very often the critical treatment decisions are made on the basis some of our most elementary tools – history and examination, bedside observations, simple blood tests and plain radiology. This talk will cover the various aetiologies of fulminant colitis, when to ready the OR, and what to do when you get there.
